You are warmly invited to attend a public viewing of the film, “The Community We Serve” a 20-minute video used to train police officers on issues involving mental illness and crisis situations. The film was inspired and developed in Union County, NJ and was produced by the NJ state NAMI organization and is now used to train police officers all over New Jersey and many other states - even as far away as Guam. The time and place is Tuesday evening, March 27th at 7:30, American Legion Hall, 1003 North Ave. (2 doors east of Charlie Brown’s Steakhouse) Westfield, NJ. This is an opportunity to see this award winning film and to hear former Assistant Prosecutor, Ms. Maureen O’Brien update you on the progress and ongoing training for police officers and other relevant personnel involved in interactions during crisis situations. Your NAMI/UC affiliate (http://nami-nj-uc.org) is pleased to be able to show you how we are working to encourage education and training about mental illness. There is no charge; our information and friendship are priceless, but free.
